Calculation method
Income = rate × hours × weeks
Hourly to annual income
Annual gross income equals your hourly rate multiplied by paid hours per week and working weeks per year. The monthly figure is the annual total divided by 12; it is a budgeting average, not a promise that every calendar month will have the same billable hours.
For example, 35 per hour for 40 hours a week over 48 working weeks yields 67,200 in annual gross income and a monthly average of 5,600. Reducing working weeks is one way to account for unpaid leave or breaks between contracts. Enter paid or billable hours, rather than all time spent at work, when estimating freelance revenue.
Gross income is not take-home pay or business profit. This calculator does not subtract income taxes, insurance, pension contributions, platform fees, equipment costs or other expenses. A freelancer may spend unpaid time on proposals, administration and training. Consider those hours separately when comparing freelance revenue with salaried employment. The result assumes the same hourly rate and schedule across the year and does not model overtime premiums.
